Event was held in Azerbaijan State Agrarian University on 31st anniversary of Khojaly genocide.
Initially, the victims of Khojaly tragedy, our martyrs and those who perished in the strong earthquake in brotherly Turkey were commemorated at the event.
Acting Rector of the University Zafar Gurbanov said Khojaly tragedy is forever engraved in the bloody memory of our nation and is one of the greatest genocide crimes of XX century and wished the victims of this tragedy the grace of God. Z. Gurbanov talked of actions taken by the state to popularize the Khojaly genocide in the world and works done by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. He said although this crime of genocide did not have any real international legal and political assessment for many years, thanks to resolute policy of the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief and heroism of soldiers and officers of the resolute army of Azerbaijan the glorious victory in the 44-day war restored the historical justice and the blood of our martyrs was not left in place.
Sabina Alizade, lecturer of the Department of Social Sciences and History of the University, noted in her speech that Khojaly tragedy, one of the cruelest and most brutal mass terrorist acts against humanity, is a part of genocide and ethnic cleansing policy carried out by Armenian nationalists against Azerbaijani nation.
The event featured a literary-artistic composition and exhibition prepared by students, as well as a video about the genocide.
